Vintage 1997
|
| Grape blend : 80% cabernet sauvignon - 20% merlot. |
| The weather : A mild winter and an exceptionnally precocious de-budding led to great expectations however a stormy weather and the perfect balance between rains and sunshine seemd to lead the vines to grow endlesslly. Hydrical stress was badly needed to redispatch the growing to the grapes. Finally the month of september saved the situation with a generous sunshine which benefitted specially to the cabernets at Caronne. The wine is a consequence of that with an unusually high proportion of that grape (70%). The merlots seemed diluted and unripe. |
