Vintage 1978

Grape blend : 60% cabernet sauvignon - 40% merlot.

The wheater :A mild winter, then a temperate and changing spring lead to a slow flowering which dragged on until the end of june. Again a rather cool, though not too rainy, summer until mid-august when a hot and dry "indian summer" started to last well after the harvest which occured from the 15th to the 25th of october. The grapes an hence the wines were no more than great but no less.

The wine : Good vigorous colour still. Not really any brown. The fruit is ample and still positive. This is bigger, richer, earthier wine than the 1979 but with the same slight hardness at the end. Yet it has more definition. Medium full weight.
